Miss Auburn Candidate: Bailey Sullivan

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Leadership and involvement, that is what describes 2018 Miss Auburn candidate Bailey Sullivan. Sullivan, a junior from Tampa, Florida majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering, says her experiences in many different campus organizations prepares her for the role of Miss Auburn.

“I’ve been involved in over ten campus organizations and I think that’s given me a lot of wisdom on what different aspects of campus really need,” said Sullivan, “and how we can gather those together and promote a more unified Auburn.”

Sullivan is running on the first part of the Auburn Creed which states: “I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore I believe in work, hard work.”

“I love the idea of waking up and being given a task and just working hard on it,” said Sullivan, “and I think I’ve learned that kinda throughout my life.”

Sullivan says that if elected she will work on helping students, while also honoring the long tradition behind the Miss Auburn position.

“I think Auburn is such a big emphasizer of tradition,” mentioned Sullivan.

Sullivan wants to expand Miss Auburn’s role by working as a liaison between Auburn’s Student Government Association and the different campus organizations, hearing their concerns and learning more about their roles on campus.

“My idea of Miss Auburn is having her go out to different campus organizations and representing the University and hearing what they are about,” said Sullivan, “and getting involved with those organizations.”

Sullivan says her excitement in wanting to transform the role of Miss Auburn and her experience sets her apart from the other four candidates. Sullivan mentions that she would like to help set the standard for Miss Auburn by serving Auburn University versus focusing on her own individual philanthropy.

“Miss Auburn is at a unique part in her history,” said Sullivan, “and I love the idea of forming a new foundation for her to set a precedent of one who’s serving the University and not her own specific charity platform.”
