Additional arrests made in Auburn kidnapping, rape case

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn Police have arrested Brian D. Askew, 3,7 and Corey B. Heard, 36, in connection to the kidnapping and rape of a 13-year-old female runaway that was reported in October 2017.


Auburn Police charged Askew with Human Trafficking First Degree. The arrest warrant was executed Friday, January 19th, while he was in custody at the Lee County Jail. He was being held on the prior Kidnapping and Rape charges.

Heard was charged with Rape First Degree. He was arrested by police on Sunday, on an unrelated charge of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle. He was also taken into custody on the Rape charge.


Both arrests stem from the ongoing kidnapping and rape investigation.

Heard was developed as a suspect and identified as being involved in the sexual assault of the victim along with Askew at his residence. The investigation into the case continues and additional arrests are anticipated.

Askew remains in custody in the Lee County Jail with an additional $100,000 bond. Heard is being held on a $100,000 bond.
