Auburn Hosts Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony

AUBURN, Ala (EETV)- On Sunday, December 2, 2017 Auburn University’s Student Government Association held the annual holiday lighting ceremony of the Samford Lawn Christmas tree and Menorah.

The event lasted from 4pm to 7pm, and the program commenced at 5pm. Auburn welcomed not only students, but friends and families of the Auburn community.

Alongside tasty refreshments and a customized hot-chocolate station, there was an ornament creation station for families!

Moments before the infamous tree lighting, Student Government Association’s President Jacqueline Keck and a few others read childhood Christmas stories, and addressed a few organizations that made this event possible.

The crowd sang along to Christmas classics performed by Drake Middle School and Auburn University’s Choir.

There were many stations for the community to mingle and enjoy time with friends, including a

photo station for a great memory.

After President Steven Leath and his wife Janet Leath wished the crowd a Merry Christmas, the

countdown began! Our very own Aubie the Tiger flipped the switch to light the massive Christmas tree!

The event was a huge success, and provided many families the opportunity to enjoy a night filled with

fun and holiday spirit here at Auburn University.
