The 79th Annual Auburn University's Hey Day Is Set to Take Place This Week

Campus will be active this Wednesday, October 14, as Auburn University’s 79th annual Hey Day is set to take place.
The beloved tradition dates back to 1947, following World War II, when Auburn University sought to create a warm and welcoming environment for returning soldiers as they came back to campus.
Today, Hey Day includes passing out name tags and encouraging students, faculty, and staff to say “hey” to everyone they pass. Name tags can be found at numerous stands around campus alongside shirts and pins provided by the Auburn University Student Government Association.
The campus greenspace will have a pep rally, an inflatable obstacle course, and a catered lunch to celebrate this beloved day. Students are encouraged to stop by and partake in the tradition.
Although the tradition has evolved since 1947, its mission remains the same: to create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone on Auburn’s campus.
