AUBURN, Ala. — The No. 3 Auburn equestrian team posted a second consecutive shutout, defeating Bridgewater, 10-0, Friday at the Auburn University Equestrian Center. The two teams competed in a Jumping Seat-only meet.
Auburn continued its strong start on the flat, taking all five points in the discipline. Junior Sadie Berkhout earned the first point with an 84-79 victory, followed by wins from junior Ariana Marnell and junior Kate Parker. Marnell posted an 87-82 win, while Parker added an 85-71 victory.
Junior Kate Hagerty added another point with a 91-83 win before freshman Taylor Cawley finished the Flat portion with a 92-83 result over Willow Wright.
Cawley was a standout athlete at the event, averaging 93 across both disciplines. She beat her opponent 92-83 in the Flat, and with a strong Fenses performance, she earned Most Outstanding Performer honors in both categories.
Auburn continued its run in Fences, earning another five points. Hagerty opened the discipline with an 87-73 victory, while Marnell followed with an 87-75 win. Sophomore Emily Jurnovoy added an 85-67 victory, and senior Avery Glynn posted a 92-72 win.
Cawley closed out the competition with the meet's highest score, recording a 94 to beat Margaret Brown's 67. Cawley finished the weekend with four individual wins and three Most Outstanding Performer honors after competing against Lynchburg Thursday and Bridgewater Friday.
The 10-0 result marked Auburn's second straight shutout to open the season. The Tigers did not drop a single point in either home meet, combining for a 19-0 record against Lynchburg and Bridgewater.
Auburn will return to the Auburn University Equestrian Center Oct. 3 to face SMU at 11 a.m. CT. The meet will feature both Jumping Seat and Western competition.
