AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - In honor of Women’s History Month, the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art is showcasing a special exhibition that highlights the work and impact of ascending female artists in modern American art.
The exhibition is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features artwork from a dozen influential women whose contributions have often been overlooked in traditional art history.
Artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, Grace Hartigan, and Lee Krasner are included in the exhibit, each recognized as a powerful figure who helped shape the direction of modern American art.
Their work reflects creativity, innovation, and resilience in a field where women have historically received less recognition.
The goal of the exhibition is to bring attention to these artists’ lasting influence while encouraging viewers to rethink how American art history is presented. By highlighting these voices, the museum creates a more inclusive and accurate understanding of the modern art movement.
Organized in partnership with Art Bridges, the exhibit also supports a broader mission of expanding access to American art and sharing important stories with a wider audience.
Students and community members are encouraged to visit throughout the week to experience the exhibit and celebrate Women’s History Month through art, culture, and storytelling.
