The No. 1 Auburn Equestrian team made the quick trip up to Athens, Ga. on Feb. 28 to take on the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs. After a tough, back-and-forth battle, the Tigers came away with an impressive 11–9 road victory to remain No. 1.
In the first event, Fences, the Tigers came out strong. Caroline Olsen earned the highest score of the event with an 87, while Avery Glynn followed closely behind with an 84.5. Auburn took the event with a total score of 420.5 compared to Georgia’s 401.0, giving the Tigers an early 4–1 lead.
In Horsemanship, Auburn faced a tougher challenge. Georgia edged out the Tigers with a team score of 373.75 to Auburn’s 372.0. Caroline Fredenburg led the way for Auburn with a solid 76.35. Georgia won the event 3–2, but Auburn maintained the overall lead at 6–4.
Next up was Flat, where the Bulldogs began to build momentum. Tessa P. Brown and Ella Duffy each earned points for Georgia. For Auburn, Ariana Marnell secured a point with a strong score of 82.6. Georgia won the event 390.5 to 378.5, tightening the overall competition.
In the final event, Reining, the Tigers dominated when it mattered most. Auburn posted a team total of 349.0 to Georgia’s 345.75. Carolina Buchanan, Sofia Tieche, and Callie Hogg each earned points, helping secure the overall team victory.
In the end, Auburn claimed the win with a final overall score of 1516.75 to 1514.25, defeating the No. 3 team in the nation and keeping its title at the top of collegiate Equestrian competition.
The Tigers will return home next to face Texas A&M on Saturday, March 7th at the Auburn University Equestrian Center for the season finale.
