Melton Student Center at Auburn University

UPC hosts Neon Night

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – The student center was illuminated on Thursday during UPC’s Neon Night event.

Students stepped into a glowing wonderland featuring lazer-tag, mini golf, arcade and casino games, bingo, and more. Also, cookie decorating stations and arts and crafts guaranteed something for everyone.

Throughout the student center vendors lined the walls providing even more attractions like a photobooth and a cotton candy machine. Food and drinks were also provided.

While the night felt smooth and seamless, events like Neon Night require months of behind-the-scenes planning.

The University Program Council consists of 7 different committees, each specializing in a specific kind of event. An interactive event like Neon Night can take anywhere around 4 months to plan and execute.

Sophia Deshotels, the Director of Interactive Events, said she and her team began planning Neon Night last September.

Reaching out to vendors and finalizing the budgets require extensive planning but the end result is worth it.

“It’s really great for people to make friends and UPC’s phrase is ‘By students, for students’, so we are planning all these events but it truly is for students; for them to really enjoy their Auburn experience and and get the most out of it,” said Deshotels.
