The Auburn Tigers kept their strong start to the season going on Tuesday night, defeating the Wofford Terriers 93-62 at Neville Arena. The win brought the Tigers' record to 3-0, and was the second consecutive dominant performance from head coach Steven Pearl's team.
Right from the beginning, Auburn showcased its strength on both ends of the court. The Tigers took an early lead and maintained it, holding Wofford to just 22 points in the first half. Auburn's defense was key, forcing 18 turnovers and limiting the Terriers to 37% shooting. By halftime, the Tigers led comfortably, 40-22.
Junior forward Keyshawn Hall stood out once again, delivering yet another quality performance with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. Hall's skills have quickly made him a central figure in Pearl's offense. Auburn's offense was sharp from all areas on Tuesday, shooting 50% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc. Elyjah Freeman also made a significant contribution, scoring 21 points throughout the game.
The Tigers maintained control throughout, out-rebounding Wofford 42-23 and scoring 36 points in the paint. Auburn's bench stepped up as well, adding 28 points. This year’s team is slowly trying to find some of the depth that has made recent Auburn teams so dangerous, and the performance was a good step forward.
Wofford showed some moments of promise, led by Chace Watley's 11 points, but the Terriers couldn't keep up with Auburn's pace.
The win keeps Auburn undefeated early in the season, with the Tigers’ first big game of the year on deck. If Pearl's team keeps performing at this level, the Tigers could be a serious contender in SEC play once again. Auburn will hit the road for its first away game of the season against Houston on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. CDT with coverage on ESPN.
