Tigers fall on the road to Georgia

The Auburn women’s soccer team traveled to Athens, Georgia on Sunday to face off with the Georgia Bulldogs in a tightly contested SEC matchup. In a low-scoring but competitive game, the two teams battled to a 1–1 draw.

The match started in an unusual fashion. Just seven and a half minutes into the first half, a miscommunication among Auburn’s defenders led to an own goal, giving Georgia an early 1–0 advantage on home turf.

Despite the tough break, Auburn responded with strong ball control and offensive pressure. The Tigers created multiple scoring chances throughout the opening half, outshooting Georgia 9–5 overall, but couldn’t capitalize before halftime.

The second half featured a slower tempo, with both defenses locking down and limiting opportunities. Each side seemed content to keep its foot off the gas and let the game breathe, resulting in some slightly more relaxed back and forth play.

However, Auburn’s persistence paid off about 30 minutes into the final period. Sophomore midfielder Clara Casajuana found the back of the net, evening the score at 1–1 and swinging the momentum back in Auburn’s favor.

Neither team was able to break the deadlock in the closing minutes, as both defenses held firm to preserve the draw. The draw gave Auburn a much-needed point in SEC play, moving the Tigers to eight points on the season and drawing them level with Texas A&M for No. 12 in the conference standings.

The Tigers will wrap up their regular season on Sunday, October 26, when they host the Missouri Tigers at the Auburn Soccer Complex. A win would be enough to send Auburn to the SEC Tournament. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. CDT on The Plains.
