Auburn University's annual Hey Day returns

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Auburn University’s Student Government Association held their annual Hey Day event Wednesday, Oct. 16. Students, faculty and the rest of the Auburn Family were encouraged to wear name tags and say “Hey!” to one another throughout the day.

The tradition, dating back to World War II, was started by members of SGA who wanted a day to unite the Auburn Family and promote a friendly atmosphere around campus.

Hey Day has grown to be one of Auburn’s longest and most anticipated events of the year.

“Some people have never heard their name around campus so it’s super kind to bring together the Auburn Family in that way and everyone gets to feel loved,” said Emily Kiel, an Auburn student and Hey Day volunteer.

The event included a live band, pep rally, appearances by WEGL 91.1 FM and special guests, free Hey Day merchandise around campus and more.
