AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Welcome home, Octavia Spencer! The renowned actress and Auburn alum is set to appear as the grand marshal for the Auburn University Homecoming parade this Friday, Sept. 12.
Auburn University made the announcement on Aug. 27 via their Instagram and Facebook. The posts feature a video of mascot Aubie opening a letter reading, “Dear Aubie, See you soon! XOXO, Octavia."
Spencer will kick off the parade at 6 p.m. on Friday, immediately followed by a pep rally on Samford Lawn and performance by Nashville Nation. The parade route will begin at the intersection of S College Street and Thach Avenue, wrap around Tichenor Avenue and make its return toward Samford Lawn.
Downtown street parking along the parade route will close at 3 p.m. and road closures will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday.
