Season-high scoring elevates No. 15 Auburn in quad meet

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The Auburn gymnastics team arose victorious in a quad meet defeating Fisk, Temple, and Talladega to complete a sweep on Friday. The Tigers’ 197.425 score is the highest achieved this season. Friday marked the first regular season quad meet hosted by the Tigers.

Temple placed second scoring 193.425. Fisk ended with 191.925 placing third followed by Talladega in fourth with 188.875.

Auburn dominated in every aspect, scoring 49.225 on vault, 49.300 on bars, 49.425 on beam, and 49.475 on floor.

Along with its valiant team effort, Auburn collected all individual titles. Cassie Stevens earned the highest vault score of the night with 9.925. Sophia Groth scored 9.900 on bars to claim the event’s top spot. Gabby Mclaughlin collected the high score of the night for both beam and floor events with 9.925 and 9.950 respectively.

On the night, Cassie Stevens earned the highest all-around score with 39.550. Groth finished second with 39.450 and Olivia Hollingsworth scored 39.375, finishing third.

In addition to the impressive accolades earned by the Tigers, Olivia Greaves’ collegiate debut marked another Auburn feat. Greaves, who missed last season because of a knee injury, scored 9.875 on bars, tying her for second-highest score for the Tigers and the event.

The Tigers will return to action against rival Alabama on Friday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. CST on SEC Network.
