Auburn Football Recruiting Recap Following a Week of Shakeups

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Oct. 17 was a day of distress for the Auburn coaching staff and faithful, as it was announced that 2024 four-star cornerback Jayden Lewis would be decommitting from the school.

Lewis is the 28th-ranked cornerback recruit in the nation, as well as the 20th-ranked recruit in the state of Alabama according to the 24/7.com recruiting composite. The corner also has blazing speed, and is a state champion in track at the 4A level in the 100- and 200-meter championships.

However, coach Freeze and the Tigers would rebound just two days later by securing a commitment from 2025 ATH Kendarius Reddick. Reddick profiles as a corner at the college level, and, though a year further out, is an excellent replacement for the lost Jayden Lewis.

Reddick is the 41st-ranked recruit in the nation, the number one ATH, and the seventh-ranked recruit from the state of Georgia in the 2025 class according to the same 24/7 composite, making him a massive get for the Auburn coaching staff. Auburn’s five commits in the 2025 class have earned them the fourth-highest ranked recruiting class for the year as of now, behind only Georgia, Alabama, and Notre Dame.

Auburn will look to bolster their 2024 class with a possible commitment from three-star junior college safety Laquan Robinson, who gave the Plains a visit for the Ole Miss game this weekend.

Three-star junior college defensive lineman will also be in Jordan-Hare Stadium this weekend for a visit, as Coach Freeze looks to continue to build for the future in the trenches.

The 2024 class for the Tigers currently sits at 17th nationally and ninth in the SEC, and is headlined by five-star wide receiver Perry Thompson, the 23rd-ranked recruit in the nation. The class also includes a possible quarterback of the future in Walker White from Arkansas, a four-star recruit ranked as the eighth-best signal caller in the class.

Overall, the current Auburn recruiting classes project to be an injection of offensive talent for an Auburn football program that has clearly lacked that this season in SEC play. Coach Freeze and his staff will look to continue building up the class and trying to flip recruits though, as nothing is final until the early signing day period opens on December 20th.
