Auburn Falls to Arkansas as the Tigers Drop a 2nd Straight Game Against Ranked Opponents

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) -- The Tigers hit the road to face the No. 14 Arkansas Razorbacks in their 3rd straight game of SEC play. Coming off a promising win against Ole Miss, the Tigers looked to improve to a winning record in conference play.

However, it was a rough match for the Tigers in Fayetteville, as Arkansas' ranking lived up to the hype. Auburn would lose in three straight sets to Arkansas (18-25, 10-25, 6-25) in a disappointing performance.

In set one, the Tigers held on in the beginning, tying the game at nine before the Razorbacks would go on an 8-0 run. All three sets were dictated by runs, as the game ended on a 6-1 run by Arkansas to sweep the Tigers.

The Tigers struggled to find momentum throughout all three sets, with there being only one lead change throughout the entire match. In sets two and three, the Razorbacks would never lose their lead once they gained it.

Although Auburn finished with more attack hits than Arkansas (81 to 69), Arkansas led the two teams in kills with 37, whereas Auburn finished the game with a total of only 14. This, along with a negative hitting percentage (-0.049), highlighted the overall underwhelming performance from the Tigers.

However, Jackie Barrett was a bright spot for the Tigers, leading Auburn with a team-high 10 assists and having a .500 hitting percentage, the highest on the team.

The Tigers will look to get back in the win column this Sunday at 12 p.m. when they host Georgia at Neville Arena.
