Penta Shuts Out South Alabama in Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The Tigers faced off South Alabama in the second game of the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament. Maddie Penta was given the start for the Auburn Tigers and gained her tenth victory in the circle this season.

After a rain delay pushed back game time, South Alabama tried to get things started early on against the Tigers, however, Penta remained dominant. In five out of seven innings, Penta kept the Jaguars on their toes only facing three batters in each inning.

The Jaguars had a couple of bright spots tallying up three total hits for the game. In the second inning, Sasha Willems hit a double off the wall to halt Penta’s first extra-base hit given up.

South Alabama pitcher Jenna Hardy’s riseball tested the Tiger's offensive game. The bats came alive with a pair of solo shots from KK McCrary and Lindsey Garcia in the second and sixth innings. This would bring the Tigers to a final of eleven hits in the game.

Penta kept the Jaguars off balance only allowing three hits while striking out eleven. This would aid the Tigers to a victory over the Jaguars and keep Auburn undefeated at home.

The Tigers return on Saturday, March 4th for a doubleheader against South Alabama and Tennessee Tech at Jane B. Moore field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
