Dining Changes to the Student Center

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Following the end of this semester, the Melton Student Center will be making changes to its dining options.

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Following the end of this semester, the Melton Student Center will be making changes to its dining options.

Au Bon Pain has been removed from the student center, and in its place will be a fully operational Starbucks. This Starbucks will have a full kitchen and seating area, comparable to the Starbucks in Lowder Hall.

“I think it's just going to be really a great spot for students to be able to zip in and grab a drink on their way to class or to come in, hang out and study,” said Glenn Loughridge, director of campus dining and concessions. “So, that's really what we want for the space.”

Blenz will be taking the place of the current Starbucks, allowing Blenz its’ own space in the front of the student center.

In place of Blenz, Toro Sushi will be adding a location on the lower floor of the student center.

“Toro needs access to a main kitchen, which is really behind that location that's downstairs,” said Loughridge.

These will be rolling changes, allowing these dining options to stay open for students as long as possible.

“It's kind of a domino effect,” said Loughridge. “Starbucks will be ready, and we will not close blends until we're ready to move upstairs. As soon as they're ready to move upstairs, we'll move Toro.”

These changes are expected to be completed by the middle of next semester.
