Auburn Police report a fatal shooting on South College street

On Monday around 12:05 a.m. the Auburn Police Department responded to a shooting on South College Street. 

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - On Monday around 12:05 a.m. the Auburn Police Department responded to a shooting on South College Street. 

The police found a 32-year-old Auburn man suffering gunshot wounds to his upper torso and lower body. Medical assistance was provided, but the victim passed away due to his injuries. 

Keyon Black, a 23-year-old man from Opelika, Alabama, is currently suspected of entering the victim’s residence with a handgun and shooting him. Black and the victim are suspected to have been acquaintances meaning this may not have been a random act of violence. 

Auburn Police obtained an arrest warrant, and if found guilty, Black will be charged with capital murder. The search for Black is still ongoing.
