Auburn Returns to Jordan-Hare for Top 25 Matchup

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - After a strong road win against Arkansas and an off week, the No. 18 Auburn Tigers return to Jordan-Hare this Saturday to take on No. 10 Ole Miss. Auburn is looking to continue their winning streak against the Rebels, as the Tigers have won the last five matchups.

Ole Miss is currently 6-1 on the season and is riding a three-game win streak with a strong win over LSU last weekend.

Head coach Bryan Harsin spoke Monday about the week and Auburn’s preparation and said the bye week was nice but he is excited to be back home this weekend to take on Ole Miss.

Harsin said the team was still productive over the bye week, getting in “three good practices”.

He also mentioned the off week gave a couple of players the chance to get healthy and rest up before the top 25 matchup Saturday.

Following the end of the bye weekend, the team then turned its attention to the Rebels and got back into a consistent schedule.

Harsin said the team is looking forward to playing a “really good Ole Miss team.”

“They are 6-1 for a reason,” the Auburn head coach said. “They’re scoring a bunch of points… they are running the ball well, they are passing the ball well and they are aggressive in their third and fourth down situations.”

Harsin called Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral a “front runner for the Heisman”, so Auburn has prepared for that. Corral has 15 touchdowns and just one interception this season.

“They definitely have our attention,” Harsin said. “We are looking forward to that [Saturday] and excited to be back into a normal week”.

On Auburn’s side of the ball, junior quarterback Bo Nix is coming off a dominant performance against Arkansas, throwing for 292 yards with two touchdowns through the air and one on the ground.

Nix said Saturday’s matchup against Ole Miss is an important opportunity for the Tiger offense to prove what they are capable of.

“It’s our next opponent and we really wanna go out there and play good football,” Nix said. “This a big game for us to go out there and do that. It’s going to be a good challenge for us but a great opportunity.”

Nix said the bye week was “really valuable” to him and the offense, as they went back and worked on basics and fundamentals from fall camp.

Nix is excited to go up against Corral, saying tough quarterback matchups "add to the excitement of the competition."

"Anytime I get a chance to play against a good player, obviously there is a lot of hype on him, but it just brings a lot of hype to the game," Nix said. "It's just another great way for us to go out and compete against good competitors."

Nix and the Tigers are ready to take on Ole Miss Saturday in Jordan-Hare for the All Auburn All Orange game, where fans are encouraged to wear orange. Kick off is set for 6 p.m. CT and the game can be found on ESPN.
