Shots Fired on Friday night near North Gay Street and Drake Avenue

Auburn, AL(EETV)- A shooting occured on Friday night near downtown Auburn at the corner of Gay Street and Drake Avenue. One individual has claimed to have been shot in the incident but does not have any life threatening injuries.

In a statement from the Auburn police department, the victim was determined to be a 19 year old man from Tallassee, Alabama. He has been airlifted to the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

It is unclear if the victim was involved in the shooting but the police are continuing to investigate this case for charges of reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm within city limits, and first degree assault.

According to an anonymous source there were, "six to eight gunshots fired by each person." Emergency vehichles and first responders arrived shortly after and to investigating the scene.
