Auburn City Council Nov. 3 Meeting Highlights

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The Auburn City Council met on Nov. 3 and took a few actions.

The council amended the zoning ordinance to better regulate student housing. They approved a zoning ordinance amendment that reduces the bed density allowance in the University Neighborhood-West district from 255 beds per acre to 170 beds per acre.

They denied amended Planned Development District for the Hamilton Place shopping center. While the council approved a rezoning of about 4 acres of property behind the center from Rural to Limited Development District, it denied a request to amend the shopping center’s Planned Development District to include the rezoned property, due to traffic safety concerns.

The council also:

  • Announced a vacancy on the Public Park and Recreation Board beginning Dec.19 and end Dec. 18, 2026. For more information, visit auburnalabama.org/boards.
