Auburn University increases security following identification of suspect in Aniah Blanchard case

A campus safety forum will be held this weekend for the campus community.

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn University is increasing security meausres following the identification of Ibraheem Yazeed, a suspect in the disappearance of Aniah Blanchard.

The Auburn Police Division is increasing on-campus patrols as a precaution. The number of security officers assigned to campus will also increase.

Campus Safety and Security will host a campus safety forum this Sunday at 4 p.m. in Student Center 2222/2223.

The university recommends these safety precautions to remain safe on campus.

  • Immediately calling Auburn Police at 911 or 334-501-3100, option 1
  • Utilizing the Night Security Shuttle (334-844-7400) for door-to-door on-campus transportation from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Downloading the Auburn Safety app for resources including submitting tips, the security shuttle, how to respond, friend walk and others.
  • The univeersity also has an extensive security camera network on campus

Campus residents are also going to see increased security in residential neighborhoods after hours. Residents are urged to use the blue light emergency phones across campus to directly access emergency services.
