Hundreds of Auburn students participate in service projects for “The Big Event,” focusing on giving back to Auburn community

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The Big Event is a student led service project sponsored by Auburn University’s Office of Student Involvement.

Since 2003, the program has served as an opportunity for Auburn University students to give back to the Auburn and Opelika communities by performing a range of community service tasks for households, churches, businesses and organizations, according to The Big Event’s official Facebook page.

The big day is set aside on one Saturday in the spring semester. Kicking off at 8 a.m. with breakfast, the day of service began at 9 a.m. and lasted until 1 p.m.

Individuals and organizations can sign up for The Big Event. From there, individuals come together alongside organizations to form teams.

Over 200 job sites were listed as needing help in the Auburn community.
