Auburn man charged with burglary and theft of property

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - On Saturday, March 31, 2018, Auburn Police arrested Alex W. Mershon, age 21 from Auburn, on warrants charging him with burglary 3rd degree and theft of property 4th degree.

At about 1 a.m., APD officers responded to a burglary in progress call at an apartment complex in the 800 block of West Longleaf Drive. Police were called after an individual was observed in a residence shining a flashlight. Officers arrived on the scene and apprehended the individual, later identified as Mershon, as he was attempting to flee the residence through a rear window.


Further investigation revealed that, moments prior, Mershon had unlawfully entered the residence and had taken items belonging to a resident. Once Mershon was taken into custody, officers recovered property from the residence in his possession. Mershon was transported to the Lee County Jail, where he was being held on a $4,000 bond.
