City of Auburn to Host Free Tree Giveaway On Saturday

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The City of Auburn Tree Commission will host its annual Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Auburn Kroger on Dean Road and Publix stores at Moore’s Mill and Cary Woods. Members of the Auburn Tree Commission will distribute 1,000 dogwoods and 250 shumard oaks while supplies last at each location.

According to the National Arbor Day Foundation, Arbor Day is meant to promote the care and planting of trees along with celebrating the role trees play in people's lives.

The Auburn Tree Commission is appointed by the Auburn City Council. The Commission, which is a part of the National Arbor Day Foundation, advises the City on proper tree care and planting. In honor of the Auburn Tree Commission’s efforts and the Arbor Day Celebration, Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. has issued an Arbor Day Proclamation formally declaring Feb. 24 to be Arbor Day in the City of Auburn.
