Swimming and Diving Split Iron Bowl

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - No. 9 Auburn men's team defeated No. 16 Alabama in the Iron Bowl in the pool. 

The Tigers claimed their win with a final score of 167.5-132.5 on Friday afternoon at the Martin Aquatics Center. 

Luis Martinez, Hugo Gonzalez and Scott Lazeroff helped the team with their lead, all making individual wins. Tommy Brewer, Peter Holoda and Bryan Lee also earned wins. 

"I thought the whole men's team stood up as a unit," Auburn head coach Brett Hawke said to Auburn Athletics. "We came to race tough and I thought our boys did that man-to-man." 

The women's team fell short to Alabama with a final score of 167-131. 

SEC Swimmer of the Week, Aly Tetzloff, remains undefeated in the 100 back this season, touching first with a career-best time of 53.28. Bailey Nero also earned her first individual win of the season in the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.16. 

Auburn will be on the road for the first time this season next weekend, competing at South Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 4. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT in Columbia, S.C.
