AL House Speaker Endorses Roy Moore

MONTGOMERY, AL (EETV)- Another key Alabama Republican leader has publicly endorsed former Judge Roy Moore for Senate. Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives Mac McCutcheon, R-Monrovia, announced his endorsement of the two-time former chief justice today.

In a statement released by the Moore campaign, McCutcheon stated “I am pleased to add my name to the continually-growing list of those endorsing Judge Roy Moore in his bid to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions.”

McCutcheon is one of many Alabama elected leaders to endorse Moore’s bid for the U.S. Senate in recent days; other officials that have recently announced their support for Moore include Senate Pro Tempore Del Marsh, R-Anniston, and Rep. Barry Moore, R-Enterprise.

Moore’s Democratic opponent, former United States Attorney Doug Jones, has been supported by many Democratic leaders including former Vice President Joe Biden and Rep. Terri Sewell.

Recent polls in the race have varied, with the current Real Clear Politics average showing Moore leading Jones by over four points.

The general election is scheduled for Tuesday December 12.
