Apple announces new releases with iPhone X debut including edge-to-edge screen, new camera features, Face ID and wireless charging

Beginning Oct. 27, Apple devotees can pre-order the cutting edge revelation to the iPhone family, iPhone X.

The iPhone X features new, game changing technology including an edge-to-edge screen. No longer will users find a home button. According to Apple, instead, of pressing a button, a single swipe will bring users from home to anywhere.

The all new design includes the most durable glass of any of the previous iPhones, front and back.

A new feature of the iPhone X includes what Apple deems a “Revolution in recognition” with Face ID. Where in previous iPhones, one would have to enter a passcode or use Touch ID, with Face ID, your face is now your password.

Upon setting up Face ID, Face ID maps your face with over 30,000 invisible dots that will then be saved and enable you to unlock your device. Face ID is adaptable, with machine learning recognizing changes in one’s face over time.

Users can also employ Face ID when using Apple Pay.

Photographers and selfie enthusiasts alike will find the newest features of the iPhone X to add depth to their photos. A new feature in Portrait mode, “Portrait Lighting” provides pictures with “studio quality lighting effects.”

In addition, the camera now has optimal zoom. According to Apple, the wide-angle and telephoto cameras on this phone will enable optimal zoom, as well as digital zoom of up to 10x for photos and 6x for videos.

Apple is proud to announce that this iPhone is home to the “most powerful and smartest chip ever in a smartphone.”

iPhone users will also be happy to know that battery life is extended, with a custom battery designed to last up to two hours longer than that of the iPhone 7.

Finally, users will no longer have to worry about needing a charging cord as the the iPhone X charges wirelessly.

Users will need to purchase or find a local AirPower mat. To charge, all one must do is set the device anywhere on the mat. The AirPower mat works with the iPhone, Apple Watch and Airpods to create a wireless free charging experience.

The iPhone X is available storewide on Nov. 3.

For those who are looking for a more traditional iPhone, the iPhone 8 will be released for pre-order Sept. 15 and hitting shelves Sept. 22. Like previous iPhones, the iPhone 8 includes a home button with updated features - many of which are similar to the iPhone X including “Portrait Lighting” and wireless charging.

In addition, the Apple Watch Series 3, Apple TV 4K, iOs 11 and watchOS 4 was announced during the Apple Special Event in the first ever event in the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, CA.
