MONTGOMERY, AL (EETV) - Alabama Governor Robert Bentley is expected to resign this afternoon following allegations of ethics violations involving his romantic relationship with top aide Rebekah Mason. It is believed that Kay Ivey will be sworn in as Alabama's next governor as early as this evening.   

Spring 2010 - Rebekah Mason is hired as Robert Bentley’s campaign press secretary

November 2010 - Bentley is elected Governor of the state of Alabama.

Early 2013 -  Mason becomes Bentley’s campaign spokesperson and is removed from state payroll

August 2014 -  Rumors of affair arise as top official reveal they saw inappropriate texts to Mason on Bentley’s cell phone

November 2014 - Bentley is reelected Governor.

August 26, 2015 - Dianne Bentley files for divorce after 50 years of marriage. 

September 29, 2015 - The divorce is finalized and the previously sealed records are unsealed. 

November 2015 - Bentley, Mason, and staff travel to Las Vegas and attend a Celine Dion concert. 

March 23, 2016 - Bentley denies a sexual relationship with Mason and says he never misused state resources. He does admit to making inappropriate comments to her. 

March 23, 2016 - Audio recordings of Bentley speaking with Rebekah Mason are released. 

March 24, 2016 - House Democrats minority leader, Rep. Craig Ford calls on the governor to resign.  

March 25, 2016 - Rebekah's husband, Jon Mason writes on Facebook that he "long ago resolved the personal issue playing out now" between his wife and the governor.  

March 25, 2016 - State Auditor, Jim Zeigler, files an ethics violation complaint against Bentley

March 25, 2016 - Bentley calls Mason by name in newly released audio recordings.

March 28, 2016 - Bentley and Mason's complete audio recordings and transcripts are released. 

March 28, 2016 - Bentley promises not to resign in his first public appearance since his apology.

March 29, 2016 - It is revealed that Bentley and Mason co-own a secret safe deposit box. 

March 30, 2016 - Rebekah Mason resigns from Bentley's staff. 

April 1, 2016 - Burner cellphones are listed on campaign finance reports, prompting questions. 

April 4, 2016 - Bentley says, "I have asked God to forgive me" while promoting his prison reform plan. 

April 5, 2016 - Articles of impeachment are introduced, Bentley responds to the call for impeachment.

April 6, 2016 -Bentley makes first appearance since calls for impeachment.

April 13, 2016 - It is confirmed that Bentley had a state helicopter bring him his wallet. 

April 14, 2016 - Bentley denies using the helicopter to get his wallet. 

April 15, 2016 - Bentley speaks out about his controversial November 2015 trip to Las Vegas. 

September 29, 2016 - Subpoenas are issued for Bentley and Mason to deliver requested documents to the special counsel.

November 3, 2016 - The impeachment probe is halted.

January 20, 2017 - Bentley and the Mason's attend Donald Trump's presidential inauguration.

February 1, 2017 - It is revealed that Bentley used $9,000 of campaign funds to help pay Mason's law fees.

March 8, 2017 - The impeachment probe resumes.

April 10, 2017 - The impeachment hearings begin.
