Auburn Drops Third Straight SEC Game At Mississippi State

Starkville, Mississippi (EETV)- Auburn went on the road to face the twenty-second ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs. Both teams teams looked to reach five-hundred as they sat 2-3 in the conference.

In the first half, Mississippi State came out hot behind the arc as Nick Weatherspoon and Lamar Peters combined for 18 points from three to give the Bulldogs an eleven point lead. 

Despite 10 turnovers, Auburn held their own as Bryce Brown and Jared Harper both dropped 9 points in the first half. The Tigers cut the deficit to 45-47 at halftime as Jared Harper hit a jumper with four second left.

Early in the second half, the Tigers took a seven point lead as Jared Harper and Chuma Okeke two straight threes.

Despite the early Auburn run, Mississippi State turned the game around as Quindary Weatherspoon scored 12 points alone to help regain a double digit lead.

Auburn would not be able to answer the Bulldogs as they would lose 92-84 making it three straight losses in a row.

Mississippi State's leading scorer was Quindary Weatherspoon, who dropped 27 points on the night. Lamar Peter had a solid performance as he had 16.

Auburn was led by Bryce Brown, who scored 18, and Chuma Okeke with 16 points. The Tiger's turnover woes on the road continued as they had a total of 19 in the game.

Mississippi State was lethal from three, knocking down 13 shots. The Bulldogs out rebounded Auburn and controlled the paint offensively and defensively.

With the loss, the Tigers are now 13-6 (2-4 in SEC) and they will return to Auburn Arena Wednesday night against the Missouri Tigers.
