Arrest made in connection to individual being found unconscious on campus street

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn Police arrested Alexander C. Hernandez, age 23, from Fort Benning, Georgia Monday on a felony warrant charging him with first degree rape.

Police say that a victim was found May 12 unconscious on Engineering Drive, which its located on the campus of Auburn University.

The victim was eventually transported to the East Alabama Medical Center due to the victim's level of intoxication.

Further investigation by authorities, including a DNA examination by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, determined that Hernandez, an acquaintance of the victim, sexually assaulted her. 

Detectives charged Hernandez with first degree rape. Hernandez turned himself in to police and was transported to the Lee County Jail where he was being held on a $100,000 bond.
