Ainsworth, Pate and Marshall declare victory in runoff election

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Party nominees were finally decided upon following Alabama's primary runoff election Tuesday night.

Will Ainsworth, Steve Marshall and Rick Pate won highly contested primaries in the race to become the GOP nominee for lieutenant governor, attorney general and agriculture and industries commissioner. 

Ainsworth declared his victory by writing, "This is your victory as much as ours! #ANewDayForAlabama!"

Marshall wrote following his victory, "We did it! Thank you, Alabama! #AlabamaStrong."

Pate's comment following his victory was, "We took a step in the right direction to prove that you don't have to go negative to win." 

Locally, Richard Lagrande won the Democratic nomination for the Lee County Commission District 5 seat and Pebblin Warren won the Democratic nomination for State House District 82.

Ainsworth and Marshall will face Democratic challengers in the November 6 general election, there are no Democrats running against Pate.
