Today Is Last Day to Register To Vote Before December's Special Election

MONTGOMERY, Ala (EETV) - The Alabama Secretary of State's Office has been made aware of erroneous messages being distributed by individuals claiming to be members of the NAACP and Open Progress claiming that the person receiving the message was not a registered voter when they were in-fact registered voters. Alabama voters will come together on December 12, 2017 to elect the next United States Senator from Alabama. Today is the deadline to register to vote in person by the close of business at your county board of registrars' office (typically 5:00 p.m.), online by 11:59 p.m. or postmarked by November 27, 2017.

Voters are reminded that the new crossover voting law does not apply to a General Election. In the General Election on December 12, all registered voters in Alabama may vote for the candidate of their choice.

Additionally, the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Thursday, December 7, 2017. And, the deadline to return an absentee ballot is Monday, December 11, 2017.

The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
