SGA approves spring election dates, funds holiday lighting ceremony

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - SGA approved two bills Monday night by unanimous decision. The bills were in regards to the holiday lighting ceremony and spring election dates.

The holiday lighting ceremony bill that was approved gives $2,000 towards the ceremony. This event is a time where the Auburn family comes together and lights the Christmas tree and menorah. This event will take place on December 3rd at 5 pm on Samford Lawn. 

Senator of Business, Trent Baggerly, stated "[Last year] was a really great turnout, it was a great way to unify Auburn students and bring people together before the holidays."

The last bill that was approved was the dates for the spring election. Senator of Engineering, Kaitlyn Lawrence, stated: "We were just trying to make sure the dates were approved in time for the Declaration of Intent."  

The following will be the campaign dates:

Wednesday, January 10 at 8 pm: Campaign Preparation begins

Wednesday, January 31 at 12 pm: Preliminary Campaigning begins

Wednesday, January 31 at 3 pm: Formal Campaigning begins

Tuesday, February 6 from 7am-7pm: Voting Day

Wednesday, February 7: Runoff Campaigning 

Thursday, February 8 from 7am-7pm: Runoff Voting

The next SGA meeting will be held Monday, November 6 at 7:30 pm in the Student Center, Room 2222.
