Seeking shelter fast: Twenty precautionary items you should have as precaution throughout tropical storm Irma

With tropical storm Hurricane Irma moving its way across the Gulf into the Southeast, taking precautionary measures and having household items close by is always a smart idea.

Listed are twenty items that you should have packed in case of emergency:

  1. Non-perishable food and snacks
  2. Bottled water
  3. Plastic utensils, disposable plates and cups
  4. Flashlight
  5. Blanket
  6. Extra full set of clothes
  7. Coat (preferably wind/rain resistant)
  8. Whistle
  9. Duct tape
  10. Standard First Aid Kit
  11. Garbage bags
  12. Moist towelettes
  13. Non-prescription medications such as pain relievers
  14. Half-full tank of gas in vehicle
  15. Extra sturdy pair of shoes
  16. Waterproof, portable containers
  17. Extra pack(s) of batteries
  18. Personal hygiene items
  19. Cell phone/handheld radio
  20. Phone charger/laptop charger (Portable/wireless charger battery pack if available)
