This Weekend in Auburn Sports

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn football may be on the road this weekend, but there are several other Tiger teams you can watch online or in person this weekend. Soccer kicked off the weekend for athletics, traveling to Knoxville to face No. 21 Tennesee on Thursday. The Tigers finished the game with a 1-1 draw, the lone Auburn goal coming from freshman Jaelyn Gadson in the 85th minute. Soccer will return home on Sunday to face Kentucky at the Auburn Soccer Complex.

Lee County Schools Prayer Ban

On Friday August 25th when fans showed up to the annual football game between Opelika High School and Smiths Station High School they did not know that nearly a month later we would still be talking about it but not for what happened during the game but what happened before.  On this particular Friday night just like it had been for many years a student-led prayer was said over the public address system prior to kickoff.

Daniel Carlson Named to 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Daniel Carlson has been named to the 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The Auburn kicker is among 22 football players throughout the country to be named to the team. Carlson has been active in volunteering while at Auburn, taking mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Guatemala, working at schools, visiting hospitals, and doing faith-based speaking events. The voting panel to select the team include Tim Tebow and prominent college football media members. The panel is given a list of 146 nominated players.

Top-10 Finish from Elena Hualde

Auburn, AL (EETV) – Sophmore Elena Hualde finished in the top-10 individually at the Mason Rudolph Championship over the weekend, assisting in one of the best team scores in Auburn’s history. The Tigers shot an even-par of 288 on Sunday’s finish to place seventh with a 54-hole score of 857, which was seven under.

Men's Tennis Announces Spring Schedule

Softball coach Mickey Dean Officially Welcomed to Auburn

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Mickey Dean is no stranger to the spotlight and that’s why Auburn Director of Athletics Jay Jacobs chose him.   The new Auburn head softball coach’s list of accomplishments are staggering, especially his 80% winning percentage at James Madison University, including a 52-8 record in 2017.  When asked about leaving James Madison, Dean took his time and answered.

BREAKING: Mickey Dean Named Softball Coach

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Mickey Dean named Auburn Softball coach by Auburn Director of Athletics Jay Jacobs. The announcement was made Thursday by Jacobs. Dean comes from James Madison University where he was the head coach for the past 5 seasons. “Coach Dean’s accomplishments at JMU are remarkable,” Jacobs said in response to the hiring.

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - After Auburn's loss at Clemson, we learned several things about the now No. 15 Auburn Tigers. The first test of the season didn't yield the result many Auburn fans wanted, but it did answer more questions about the identity of this Auburn team. Here are my 5 takeaways following the 14-6 loss at No. 3 Clemson. 1) Stidham: Mr. Future, not Mr. Right now Stidham was supposed to be the missing piece for the Auburn offense that would lead the Tigers to a College Playoff appearance and possibly a national title this season. After Georgia Southern in week 1, many questioned the potential this quarterback had.

Halftime Update: Auburn down 7-6

Clemson, S.C. (EETV) - No. 13 Auburn trails No. 3 Clemson 7-6 at the half.  Auburn took the early lead, converting two field goals in the first half by Daniel Carlson. Clemson took the lead late in the second quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run by quarterback Kelly Bryant. Most notably tonight is the absence of Auburn running back Kerryon Johnson, who did not dress for the game due to an injury suffered against Georgia Southern.

(EETV) - Longtime Auburn fans are sure to know about the traditions like the war eagle fly before the game and the  Today marks the 27th anniversary of one of the most iconic announcements in Auburn Football history: "Will Otis Mounds please report to the Auburn locker room?” Otis Mounds started the game day against Cal State Fullerton, not in the locker room or warming up with his teammates, but in the stands of Jordan-Hare Stadium.
