Auburn police make drug arrest

Auburn, Ala. -- On Tuesday, July 11, Auburn Police arrested two men for drug related crimes. Cedreko Lamar Johnson, a 26-year-old man from Opelika was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and two counts of Receiving Stolen Property 3rd Degree.

New documentary profiles Alabama’s pre-k program

Montgomery, Ala. — Gov. Kay Ivey announced the release of “Starting at Zero: Reimagining Education in America,” a video detailing Alabama’s nationally renowned prekindergarten program. The video, produced and filmed by the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Saul Zaentz Charitable Foundation, debuted at the National Forum on Education Policy hosted by the Education Commission of the States in Washington D.C. “We know that investing in quality early learning impacts a child’s future far beyond the classroom,” said Gov.

Opelika Police looking for suspect in apparent Walmart theft

OPELIKA, Ala. (EETV)- The Opelika Police Department is investigating a possible Fraudulent Use of a Credit/Debit Card and a Theft of Property complaint alleged to have occurred June 23 at the Opelika Walmart.  Police say that the suspect entered the store and made multiple major purchases using a stolen credit card. Police describe the suspect as as a 5’08” black female weighing approximately 230 lbs.

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Thursday's powerful storms took town several trees in our area, as well as the Auburn University website. Auburn University Office of Information Technology reports that around 4:14 PM, the campus lost all inbound and outbound internet traffic.

Gov. Kay Ivey announces new solar power plant, providing more jobs

Montgomery, Ala. -- Gov. Kay Ivey announced on Wednesday, June 27, that LG Electronics has made plans to invest $28 million in pursuit of creating a world-class solar module assembly plant in Huntsville, Alabama, which will create 160 new jobs. LG, a leading provider of residential solar panels in the U.S., has plans to create a new factory, consisting of two production lines, which will be at a pre-existing building on their company's 48-acre Huntsville campus.

Auburn library debuts Aubie exhibit

Auburn, Ala. — The Special Collections and Archives Department of Auburn University Libraries recently opened an exhibit on Aubie the mascot, commemorating the soon-to-be 40th anniversary of the mascot. Phil Neel, an artist for the Birmingham Post-Herald, drew the original cartoon Aubie. The drawing made its first appearance on the cover of an Auburn football program on Oct.
