OPELIKA, Ala. (EETV)- On Friday at approximately 8:30 PM the Opelika Police Department received a 911 call reporting a gunshot victim in the 100 block of Chester Avenue. Officers as well as Paramedics and Firefighters from the Opelika Fire Department responded and located a single victim, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was treated at the scene and then taken to EAMC. Later he was flown to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. At approximately 11:01 AM this morning he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Nathaniel E. Gibson, 37 years old of Opelika, Alabama.

This drawing is a forensic artist’s rendering of what the suspect would potentially resemble without wearing the baseball cap and fake beard as a disguise.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Today, Ramone Jardon Nickerson, 33, of Phenix City, Alabama, was arrested on two charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and one charge of possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime, announced United States Attorney Louis V. Franklin, Sr., from the Middle District of Alabama. Nickerson was an assistant football coach at Tuskegee University.
