Auburn Comeback Falls Short Against LSU

Baton Rouge, LA- (EETV)- Auburn went on the road to face a strong LSU team who sat in second in SEC standings. A win for Auburn would be crucial to their season especially for tournament seedings.

Auburn controlled most of the first half as they went 11-19 from beyond the arc. Jared Harper led the team with 14 points and 3 assists. The Tigers led by sixteen, but LSU would cut it to just three going into halftime.

LSU came out of halftime with the hot hand as they gained a ten point lead. Auburn hung around but was unable to cut into the lead until the final two minutes of play. 

With only thirty seconds to play, Jared Harper hit a long three two make it 79-76 LSU. Auburn's defense forced a turnover and Anfernee McLemore made a bucket two cut the lead to one. 

After LSU made two free throws, Auburn had one more chance to send the game to overtime. The Tigers put the ball in the hands of Bryce Brown who was unable hit the shot to extend the game. 

Auburn continues their road troubles as they had 19 turnovers and gave up 28 second chance points. Harper's 25 points led the way offensively for the Tigers.

LSU was led by Skylar Mays who had 20 points and Tremount Waters with 19 points. LSU goes to 9-1 in the SEC which keeps them in contention for the regular season crown.

Auburn goes to 5-5 in the SEC and they will be at home against Ole Miss on Wednesday night.
