Chuma Okeke named SEC Player of the Week

AUBURN, Ala - Chuma Okeke has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the week, following his performance in the Tigers win against Washington Friday night.

This is Okeke’s second SEC honor, as he was named SEC Freshman of the week back in the 2017 season.

Okeke shined Friday night to help the Tigers gain their second win of the season. The sophomore leads the team with 39 points in 2 games while playing 58 minutes.

He was a key player in the season opener against South Alabama, as he had 20 points with 5 assists and 3 blocks, helping the Tigers top South Alabama 101-58.

Okeke captured his fourth career double-double in Friday’s 88-66 win against Washington. He has 19 points and 10 rebounds, which pushed Auburn above the Huskies. The 22 point win was the third-largest margin against a ranked non-league team in program history.

The Tigers return to the court Wednesday, Nov. 14 as they take on Mississippi College at 7 p.m, CT in Auburn Arena.
