Possible drugging incident at an Auburn University fraternity house Tuesday

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn University Campus Safety and Security reported that a female student was possibly drugged Tuesday night at a campus fraternity house party.

According to the alert sent out by officials, the student started feeling incapacitated shortly after having a drink given to her at the party.

Auburn University Interfraternity Council President Gavin McGettigan wrote in a statement to Eagle Eye TV, “The Interfraternity Council strongly condemns any instance of interpersonal violence. We do not condone the behavior as described in the notice and will seek to understand and handle the situation to the best of our ability.”

University officials remind all students that if you believe you have been drugged:

  • Immediately get medical attention. Some date rape drugs can only be detected in urine from 3-12 hours after they are consumed.
  • Call 911 or have a trusted friend take you to the East Alabama Medical Center emergency room. During daytime hours, you can go to the Auburn University Medical Clinic.
  • Do not urinate before going to the hospital or medical clinic, if at all possible. If you cannot wait, collect your urine in a clean container and bring it with you for testing.
  • Report the incident to police at 911 or 334-501-3100.
