AUBURN, Ala (EETV)- Auburn freshman infielder Makenna Dowell was named SEC Freshman of the week on Tuesday.
Dowell stepped up for the Tigers filling the place of injured Taylon Snow in their game against Alabama State and sweep over No. 19 Kentucky.
She entered the week with just four hits on the season (4-for-23). However, over the course of the week, she batted .444 (4-for-9). She finished four runs scored and two RBI. Against Kentucky, Dowell batted .429 (3-7) with two doubles.
Dowell is the second Tiger to be honored by the conference this season joining Victoria Draper, who was named SEC co-player of the week earlier this month.
