Auburn Softball pulls out series win over Alabama

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn softball won an exciting series 2-1 over rival Alabama this weekend. The Tigers won the last two games of the series after losing to the Crimson Tide Friday.

On Friday, Auburn lost 2-0 in the first game of the series. Alabama pitcher Alexis Osorio allowed one hit with 6 strikeouts on the night.

The Tide's scoring came from a Gabby Callaway RBI single in the first inning followed by a solo-home run in the fifth inning by Caroline Hardy.

In the second game, Auburn bounced back defeating Alabama 3-1. Makayla Martin pitched a complete game with five strikeouts with three strikeouts in the last inning.

Auburn's offense came alive early in the second inning as Kendall Veach drove in a run with an RBI double. Morgan Podany added another run in the third scoring on a wild pitch.

Auburn would tack on one more run as Tannon Snow walked in a run with the bases loaded. Alabama would ruin Martin's shutout bid as they scored a run as Elissa Brown hit an RBI single.

In the deciding game Sunday, Auburn would win in dramatic fashion after trailing for most of the game.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh, Alyssa Rivera hit a home run to tie the game. After Taylon Snow reached base on a fielder's choice, Casey McCrackin stepped up and drove in the winning run with an RBI single.

Kaylee Carlson picked up the win improving her record to 13-1 on the season.

Auburn will be back on the field Wednesday when they welcome Alabama State at 6 p.m.
