Tigers barely hang on to Top-15

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - After going 1-1 for the third straight week, Auburn falls to No. 14 in this week's AP Poll. The Tigers were previously ranked No. 12 but fell to Florida Saturday 72-66.

If Auburn would have defeated the Gators, the Tigers would have claimed a share of the SEC regular-season title.

The Tigers, however, got a major victory Wednesday, defeating in-state rival Alabama 90-71.

In their win over Alabama, Auburn guard Mustapha Heron did not play due to a stomach virus he had been battling for three days. Last week was the first full week of games the Tigers were also without forward Anfernee McLemore.

Auburn is still the highest ranked SEC team in the nation. No. 16 Tennessee and No. 23 Kentucky round out the conference in the Top-25.

After this week, Auburn (12-4) continues to hold the top spot in the SEC. Tennessee (11-5) and Mississippi State (9-7) round out the top-3 in the conference.

Auburn will face two SEC opponents this week to close out the regular season. First, the Tigers will travel to Arkansas Tuesday. With a win over the Razorbacks, Auburn can claim a share of the SEC title and clinch the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament.

Auburn will then return home, possibly with an SEC regular-season title, Saturday to rematch South Carolina.

Tip-off against Arkansas (Feb. 28) will be 8 p.m. Auburn will tip-off Saturday (March 3) against South Carolina at 2:30 p.m.

Both games will be broadcast on the SEC Network.

Admission is free for all homes games for students with a valid Ignited Card. Students are reminded to arrive early Wednesday in order to find a seat in The Jungle.
