Auburn Man Arrested On Rape and Kidnapping Charges

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- On Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, Auburn Police arrested Brian D. Askew, age 37, from Auburn, on felony warrants charging him with Kidnapping First Degree and Rape First Degree.

The arrest stems from a reported sexual assault of a runaway who fled the Lee County Youth Development Center in October 2017. The victim, a 13 year old female, left the facility and was later picked up by several unknown males in a vehicle and taken to a residence in Auburn. While at the residence, she was held against her will and sexually assaulted.

Further investigation resulted in Askew being identified as one of the offenders who sexually assaulted the victim; he was located at his residence and taken into custody by Auburn Police with the assistance of members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force. Askew has been charged with Rape First Degree and Kidnapping First Degree.

The case remains under investigation by Auburn Police and the Lee County Department of Human Resources. Additional arrests are anticipated.

Askew was transported to the Lee County Jail where he was being held on a $150,000 bond.
