AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Coloring books have really made a comeback within the past couple of years, and people of all ages can’t seem to get enough. One local author is taking full advantage of the current craze to show some Alabama pride. Auburn citizen Laura Murray has implemented her experience in marketing and graphic design to create “Amazing Alabama: A Coloring Book Journey Through Our 67 Counties”. Each page is an illustration of the ins-and-outs of our state’s different counties, with additional facts and trivia as well.
According to an interview with oanow.com, author Mrs. Murray got the idea at the Alabama Book Festival in 2016. Spurned by a long-time love for coloring books, she spent the next year carefully crafting a book that would properly represent each county and give readers a chance to learn about them. Murray has stated that the book is meant to appeal to children and adults alike, and that the book has been both kid-tested and kid-approved.
Murray is currently trying to give the state of Georgia the same treatment and aims to cover all the states. Her book can be found on Amazon, at local bookstores including Books A Million, The Local Market, J&M Bookstore and at the Jules Collins Smith Museum, as well as her website at http://www.lauramurraycreative.com/.
