Auburn, Ala, (EETV) – Baseball’s 2017 recruiting class is currently ranked No.4 in the nation by D1 Baseball making it the highest ranking class in Tiger history.

The class also received top-10 recognition from Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball.

Auburn is in line behind Vanderbilt, Florida, and Arkansas and cracks the top five for the second consecutive season. Head coach, Butch Thompson said, “This is a tremendous accomplishment for our class” as it eclipses fifth-ranked classes from 1996, 2007, and 2016.

The Tigers’ incoming class is made up of 12 freshmen and four junior college transfers – 12 of the 16 newcomers are either pitchers or catchers.

In addition, Auburn had five freshmen who heard their names called in the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft elect to enroll in school.
