Auburn equestrian team cheers on each other.

Equestrian to open home season with in state rival

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - No. 3 Auburn Equestrian opens their home schedule against Alabama on Friday.

The teams will compete in hunt seat only. Auburn (1-0) and Alabama will compete 6 riders each.

Prior to the start of the events, Freshman Ericka Koscinski will be riding the demo for the judges.

In the Equitation Over Fences, undefeated juniors Hayley Lannotti, Caitlil Boyle, and Alex Landove will share the spotlight along with seniors Caitlin Creel and Ashton Alexander. 

"This Alabama team keeps getting better every year and their coaches do a great job," stated head coach Greg Williams to Auburn Athletics. "There should be some great rides Friday and I’m ready to see how we handle the day.” 

In knowing this is Auburn’s first home meet, Williams continues, “It’s always fun to come home and I’m looking forward to seeing our fans out there Friday.”

The Auburn University western corps will be making an appearance this Friday competing in an intrasquad. 

In addition to the competition, the AU Horse Center will be having a Fall Festival for everyone in attendance. The event will have pony rides, a bouncy house, and a prize wheel along with other fall-themed activities.

 The competition begins at 3 p.m. CT at the Auburn University Horse Center.
