Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - On the heels of Gus Malzahn announcing that Jarrett Stidham will be the starter for Auburn in Week 1, John Franklin III has announced that he is transferring from Auburn.
Franklin, a quarterback turned wide receiver, will be a graduate transfer at Florida Atlantic University, playing for Lane Kiffin.
“I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to be a player for this great university,” Franklin wrote on Instagram. “In life your happiness is all you have control over and I am making a personal decision to leave Auburn and go home and continue to make my dreams come true.”
He also thanked Auburn’s coaches, fans, and his teammates in his 3-page post.
Malzahn also announced Monday that Sean White would be his primary backup for the season. White also took to social media to back his teammates and re-iterate that he will not be transferring.
